I Shri Sadashiv Dattatray Satpute born at rural and traditional craft person family, born on 1.06.1964, left studies when I was completed Class XIth. A view to take up family craft of Kolhapur chappal making under the guidance of father, who use to work for the royal families of Kolhapur. At teenage itself started assisting parents in handwork of Kolhapuri chappals worked hard to specialize the skills of handling and making variety of articles with the Patronize of royal family introduced sophisticated designs and found good market/traditional chappal craft was projected in the Surajkund Mela of surajkund. Took part in the exhibitions organizes by the development commissioner (Handicrafts) purbashree, Emporium, Trimurti Emporium and private organizers. Also participated in the Handicrafts week celebrations and exhibitions accompanying my parents/organized the artisans, kept good liaison with political and formal leader worked hard for raising of standard of living of cobbler community which honors with pride. Trained family members thus keeping alive the traditional of chappal making as well as artistic leatherwork.
Introduced more than 20 traditional and 30 sophisticated new designs gave fast lift in market introduction of multi disciplined organization in artisan community was a revolutionary step which provided gainful employment, not only to youth but also to rural women and children who add to the family earning working after household work worked for around social, economic cultural development in rural area. Implemented numerous Governmental schemes for the benefit for the benefits of artisans. From different dimensions, the work was appreciated by the artisans made chappals for the renown personalities.
Also participated in various local workshops organized by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) and participated in Business Enterprises. And exports Management in the handicrafts sector organized by the Indian Institute of Exports under Sponsorship of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) Govt. of India, Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi.
Took part in formation of Co-operative base Institute in village Bahireshwar, Tal-Karveer Dist-Kolhapur. Doing marketing of Kolhapuri Chappals through exhibitions as well as own shop near about 100 families are getting employment and day-to-day traditional work of preparing Kolhapuri Leather Chappals. I am doing this business the last 25 years and contributed the expansion of traditional Kolhapuri Leather Chappal Craft.
